Trailkeepers at Still Creek

Healthy trails, healthy people

Trailkeepers of Oregon is a new non-profit citizen's organization whose mission is to inspire action to protect and enhance the Oregon hiking experience through advocacy, stewardship, outreach and education.

There is now a collective voice for hikers across the state, charged with building a sustaining a vibrant trail network for diverse cross-section of hikers.

Movement for an Active Generationtrail crew

TKO wants to help stem the trend of youth obsesity and a generation of people disconnected from the outdoor would.  Hiking is a low impact and inexpensive way to get exercise, breath fresh air and be introduced to the natural beauty of Oregon.   It is also one of the few sports that all family members can enjoy together.  Any hiker will tell you that there is something about hiking that is greater than the sum of it's parts. Humans were meant to be connected with nature - we hope to help fill that void in people's lives.

Cultivating a stewardship culture

How much have trails given to you? It's time to give back! We are encouraging all trail uses to devote one day of trailwork for each 100 miles hike. But more than this, it's time for us to take ownership for what is already ours! TKO hopes to:

  1. Turn more Oregonians into hikers
  2. Turn more hikers into trail stewards
  3. Turn more trail stewards into advocates
  4. Turn more advocates into owners of our trails legacy.
