Trip Leader: Chip Andrus
Did Marie Kondo inspire you to tidy up your sock drawer this winter? Well, now it is time to redirect that energy to tidying up the Wygant Peak trail.
The winter snow has been deep and wet in the eastern Gorge. And with it, a load of branches dumped on the trail. Some bigger stuff too. And then there is that snow-weighted brush that now arches into the trail. Saw, lop, rake, and toss — we’ll be doing some rousing spring cleaning.
The lower half of the trail gets its makeover on March 16 and the upper on March 30. Will the snow have melted by the second half of March? No guarantees but you will certainly be spared late spring’s poison oak and ticks.
Be prepared for a round-trip hike of up to 4 miles for the March 16 gig and 7 miles for March 30. The work itself won’t be overly strenuous. The scenery will be tops. The snacks above average.
