Work Description: Logout plus basic trail clearing.

Due to heightened safety policies and procedures that we are adhering to during the COVID-19 pandemic, trail party events are currently only open to volunteers who have accumulated 5 or more trail parties with TKO (volunteer days with WTA, PCTA or other trail orgs will be considered as well) and/or are in an Assistant Crew Leader/ Crew Leader position within TKO. Project Overview:

3 years ago the Eagle Creek Fire destroyed a major pedestrian bridge and interrupted access to Trail 400 west of Eagle Creek . This bridge was recently replaced. The old Wauna Point Trail branches off Trail 400 about 3/4 mile from the parking area and with renewed access has again become a desirable hiking destination. The trail has not been worked on since the fire, and requires saw work, along with heavy brushing, and significant tread reconstruction. The purpose of this party is to get started on clearing the logs on the trail.

Hiking information:

This trail branches off Trail 400 about 0.75 miles above the Eagle Creek Parking lot. From the junction it is 0.7 miles to the Lookout, which is the top of a ridge cleared for electric high tension wires at about 1000 feet above the river.

What to expect:

You will be asked to electronically sign the e-waiver for this event and perform a self-assessment health screening within the 24 hours proceeding the event. The crew leader for this event will verify that you have done both of these requirements at the trailhead before the party begins. Your pre-event emails will contain further details and links for both of these requirements.

You should expect to participate in this work party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

• Plenty of water
• Snacks
• Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)

What to wear:

• Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. No tennis shoes allowed!)
• Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
• Long sleeved shirts and pants.
• Rain gear as appropriate for the weather
• TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

Directions

Exit 41, Eagle Creek Fish Hatchery, only accessible from Interstate 84 Eastbound. Proceed to the parking area just beyond the hatchery buildings
