TKO is continuing to brush out and clear the corridor of the Fir Tree / Dry Fir / East Salmon River trails, just south of the Trillium Lake Day Use Area within the Mt Hood National Forest. Only pre-registered volunteers will be accepted up to 10 participants due to restrictions of group size in Wilderness areas, but keep an eye on registrations as cancellations can happen and spots would then open up until 6PM the night before the event.
We will be hiking in from the Salmon River – East Trailhead a total of approx. 2 miles on the East Salmon River Trail to the Dry Fir Trail, where we will hike another 1+ miles to the work area. Brushing of the corridor will be completed to Forest Service Standards of a Class II Wilderness Trail.
The crew leader may decide to cancel the work party, based on weather conditions. We will not work in high winds or potential storm events. Volunteers are advised to check for e-mails the night before and morning of in case there are unanticipated work party cancellations.
Again, we will be hiking in approx. TWO MILES, and then up to an additional 1.5 MILES, for a possible round trip total of up to SIX MILES. If you have questions or concerns about the hike, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
What to expect:
You should expect to work over uneven terrain, with many obstacles to climb over and/or remove. A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins.
What to bring – Bring your lunch, snacks and plenty of water.
What to wear:

– Sturdy work gloves (more than one pair is a good idea)
– Long sleeved shirt required
– Rain gear as appropriate for the weather

– TKO will provide hard hats and safety glasses
Directions to the worksite will be provided to registered volunteers no later than 48 hours prior to the work paarty date, along with any other neccessary information. We will plan to meet at the Trillium Lake Day Use Area (see Google map) and then carpool to trailhead as there won’t be enough space for several vehicles.
