One last site has been identified for a gabion installation to support the trail tread. We will be installing the gabions and filling them with rock and then placing a new trail tread over the top of the gabions. This trail is located in the Gorge.
We will meet at 8:15 AM in the parking lot for a safety and tool talk before begining our project.
We will be hiking the Upper McCord Creek Trail in the Gorge starting at the John B. Yeon Trailhead. The hike will be over uneven terrain and will not be more than 3 miles round trip. There is about 500′ elevation to climb to the project site. If you have questions or concerns about the hike, please contact email@example.com.
What to expect:
You should expect to hike and use a variety of different tools over uneven terrain, with the possibility of obstacles to climb over and/or remove. You will be on a trail in a closed area due to the fire in the Gorge of 2017. A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins. For safety reasons, we expect volunteers to stay for the duration of the trail party. Please do not expect to be able to arrive late or to leave early.
