TKO + KEEN Present – Tanner/Moffett Creek Trail Party

WORK DESCRIPTION: TRAIL REPAIR.

This section of the closed 400 trail begins on the east side of Tanner Creek and heads west towards Moffett Creek. We will be repairing tread on the main trail. There are many rocks and tree debris to be moved from the tread for crew safety. We will meet at 8:15 AM in the parking lot for a safety and tool talk before beginning our project.


Hiking information:

We will be on the Trail 400 Trail in the Gorge, meeting at the Wahclella Falls Trailhead and then car pooling to Tanner Creek area to begin our hike .The hike will be over uneven terrain and will not be more than 3 miles round trip. There is about 300′ elevation to climb to the project site. If you have questions or concerns about the hike, please contact volunteers@trailkeepersoforegon.org

 

What to expect:

You should expect to hike and use a variety of different tools over uneven terrain, with the possibility of obstacles to climb over and/or remove. You will be on a trail in a closed area due to the Eagle Creek fire in 2017. A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins. For safety reasons, we expect volunteers to stay for the duration of the trail party. Please do not expect to be able to arrive late or to leave early. 

 

What to Bring:

  • Lunch
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Work gloves if you have them – loaners available

 

What to wear:

  • Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. No tennis shoes or open toed shoes!)
  • Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.
  • Rain gear and layered clothing as appropriate for the weather
  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

 

Directions:

Take I-84 E/US-30 East to exit 40 Bonneville Dam from I-84 E/US-30 E. At the stop sign, make a right turn then in 100 yds or so park at the Wahclella Falls Trailhead.  Please consider indicating an interest in carpooling when you register, or carpooling with someone you know. Parking spaces are limited.
