CREW LEADER: BRIAN E.

HIKE DISTANCE: UP TO 3 MILES

ELEVATION GAIN: UP TO 100′

HIKE DIFFICULTY: EASY

WORK DIFFICULTY: EASY

WORK DESCRIPTION: TREAD WORK AND DRAINAGE.

Join Trailkeepers of Oregon and Stumptown Coffee as we work on this iconic waterfall trail in the Gorge. Participants in this trail party will be entered to win a Stumptown Brew Kit as a part of our Legacy Builders campaign!

In general, our focus will be brushing vegetation that has overgrown the trail and that has grown up through the trail tread. We will meet at 8:15 AM for a safety and tool talk and then begin our project.  There may be some tread repair to perform as well as brushing.

Hiking information:

We will be hiking along a paved bike path to reach different segments of Trail 400 to the east of Elowah Falls. Depending on how much work has been accomplished at previous trail parties, you may be hiking up to 3 miles over uneven terrain. If you have questions or concerns about the hike, please contact volunteers@trailkeepersoforegon.org.

What to expect:

You should expect to hike and use a variety of different tools over uneven terrain, with the possibility of obstacles to climb over and/or remove. You will be on a trail in a closed area due to the Eagle Creek fire of 2017. A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins. For safety reasons, we expect volunteers to stay for the duration of the trail party. Please do not expect to be able to arrive late or to leave early.

What to Bring:

  • Lunch

  • Plenty of water

  • Snacks

  • Work gloves if you have them – loaners available

What to wear:

  • Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. No tennis shoes or open toed shoes!)

  • Work gloves (loaner gloves available)

  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.

  • Rain gear as appropriate for the weather

  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses
