TKO recognizes that we are navigating health safety challenges we have never seen before.  With guidance from safety experts, medical advisors and recommendations from our land manager partners, we are engaging in limited in-person volunteer activities with a keen eye towards safe, healthy practices.

TKO Leadership Summit Kickoff – feat. Georgena Moran from Access Recreation

February 27 at 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free
TKO brings together the organization’s leaders and partners for this kickoff session (virtual) of our 2022 Leadership Summit event series.

TKO is excited to welcome Georgena Moran from Access Recreation as the keynote speaker for our 2022 Leadership Summit Series.

Co-founder of Access Recreation, Georgena works to bring better information to trail users on the accessibility of parks and recreation trails in the states of Oregon and Washington and beyond. This information increases opportunities and safety by allowing trail users to make a more-informed decision as to which trails may best suit their needs and ability levels without being limited solely to designated ADA accessible trails.

This event will consist of three parts:

  • Keynote presentation from Georgena Moran
  • Interactive introduction to the guidelines for accessible trails
  • Group discussion on how TKO can integrate what we’ve learned into our trail building and programming.

Following this event, TKO is offering an optional field day on Sunday March 6th. Join TKO and Georegna for a day on the trails at Chehalem Ridge, where we will put our freshly learned accessible trails assessment skills into practice. You can register for the field day here.

We hope you will join us!

If you’re interested in learning more about accessible recreation ahead of this event, you can check out this recent NY Times article featuring Georgena and other accessibility advocates.

The TKO Leadership Summit Event Series is open to folks who are:

  • Current Crew Leaders – CLs/ACLs and;
  • TKO Board and advisory members and;
  • Other local community volunteers, Agency staff and partners who are interested in learning our leadership structure – if you’re wondering if this is right for you, please email natalie.ferraro@trailkeepersoforegon.org to start the conversation.
