Please join us for this special collaborative event between Friends of the Gorge and TKO. TKO will perform trail work while Friends of the Gorge volunteers remove invasive species along the Ainswork Campground Loop Trail, this joint effort demonstrating the comprehensive focus on trail stewardship needed to maintain trails.
We will meet in the parking lot at 8:30 AM for a safety and tool talk and then begin our project. In general, our focus will be the final completion and polish of the tread on this loop to prepare the trail to be opened to the public.
Hiking information: We can park in the Ainsworth State Park parking lot and hike through the mile-long trail working on the tread as we go. The round-trip distance is about 2 miles.
What to expect: This is a closed trail in the Fire Closure area. This is a wind-sheltered area so we will not directly be in any Gorge winds. There may be tripping hazards present off the trail. It may be cold, rainy, and windy so be sure to bring extra clothes, windbreakers, an extra set of gloves, and rain gear for inclement weather. A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins.
