Come join us for a special Father’s Day event at Tryon Creek State Natural Area! This family friendly trail party, geared specifically for children and their families, will work on removing invasive species along the trail system as well as performing some general trail maintenance. Come bring the whole family for this fun-filled morning of learning about trail stewardship!
Participants should expect to hike about a mile (round trip) on trail that may be muddy at times.
What to expect:
This family-friendly event is aimed at youngsters 8 – 14 years of age, although kids as young as 6 may participate. As such, the work party will be considerably shorter than our normal events, running from 9:00 to noon.
Much of the work will be done by hand, such as pulling out encroaching plants, some of which may have thorns. It is therefore essential that everyone participating have good-fitting gloves that are up to the task. TKO has loaner gloves available if you don’t have any.
Please fill out a registration form for each person who will be attending.
Minors will need to be accompanied by at least one legal guardian at all times.
Participants must arrive on time to participate in the pre-work safety talk. We will not be able to accommodate late arrivals who miss the safety discussion.
