Time to open this trail! TKO is hosting a series of trail parties to complete a new trail project that will enhance the trail experience for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians! A trail realignment of Williams Creek Horseshoe from an old logging road, the trail loops off the Banks-Vernonia State Trail and reaches beautiful creek views within Stub Stewart State Park.
Hiking Information The work area is about 1/2 mile from where vehicles would be parked, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Banks-Vernonia State Trail to the trail project site. We will have park staff lead a caravan of vehicles down the paved bike path to the nearest trail connector.
What to Expect
You should expect to work rain or shine building new trail. Because of the nature of this work party we will be spending much of the day off the trail on steep hillsides. Some wet weather should be expected, so participants are encouraged to bring rain gear!
What to Bring
Lunch, plenty of water, snacks, and extra gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available).
What to wear:
Hwy 26 West to Vernonia exit north on Hwy 47. Just about 5 miles north to Stub Stewart State Park entrance. Follow the paved road up the hill for ~1/2 mile and the ranger station/welcome center will be on the right. Drive into the lot, past the station, and park toward the far end.
