TKO is hosting a series of trail parties to complete a new trail project that will enhance the trail experience for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians! A trail realignment of Williams Creek Horseshoe from an old logging road, the trail loops off the Banks-Vernonia State Trail and reaches beautiful creek views within Stub Stewart State Park. Focus on turnpikes over two drainages.
Hiking Information The work area is about 1/2 mile from where vehicles would be parked, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Banks-Vernonia State Trail to the trail project site. We will have park staff lead a caravan of vehicles down the paved bike path to the nearest trail connector.
What to Expect
You should expect to work rain or shine building new trail. Because of the nature of this work party we will be spending much of the day off the trail on steep hillsides. Warm weather should be expected, so participants will be encouraged to bring plenty of water and light, protective layers!
What to Bring
Lunch, plenty of water, snacks, and extra gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available).
What to wear:
Directions to the worksite will be provided to registered volunteers no later than 48 hours prior to the work party date, along with any other necessary information.
