Crew Leader: Josh D
Hike Distance: Approx. 2 miles
Elevation Gain: 600 ft
Hike Difficulty: Moderate
Work Difficulty: Easy
Work Description: Root removal and tread creep, brushing and slough/berm
Project Overview: This is a multi-day event. Feel free to sign up for one, some, or all days, as your schedule allows.
We will be helping the Forest Service perform maintenance on the St. Pertpetua Trail, on the south side of Cape Perpetua. There are a variety of tread related tasks to be performed. This will be a three day event, folks are welcome to come for any or all days. The FS has provided us with camping facilities at Cape Perpetua Campground. There will be restrooms, but no shower facilities. Shower facilities are available at the Beachside State Recreation Site, about a 10 minute drive north.
We will meet at the Cape Perpetua Overlook parking lot and start at the top of the trail, working our way down. We will meet at 10am, and aim to be back at the parking lot by 3:30. We will work as we hike down, so the hike up will get longer each day. It’s not a long or overly arduous hike, and we tailor our pace to match everyone’s needs.
