TKO recognizes that we are navigating health safety challenges we have never seen before.  With guidance from safety experts, medical ADVISORS and RECOMMENDATIONS from our land manager partners, we are engaging in limited in-person volunteer activities with a keen eye towards safe, healthy practices.

South Coast- Thursday Sunset Bay Trail Party!

Join a Thursday half day trail party to brush brush brush out the trails in the Sunset Bay State Park!

Crew Leader: Sailee

Hike Distance: 1 mile

Elevation Gain: 50ft

Hike Difficulty: Easy

Work Difficulty: Easy: We’ll be using loppers and hand saws to clear brush from the trail along the Sunset Bay Trail.

Project Overview:

We are brushing at Sunset Bay State park. This is an easy and friendly brushing work party! All levels welcome, come as you are, we have the loppers and hand saws! Kids are welcome with an adult!

Hiking information:

We’ll be hiking less than 2 miles round-trip somewhere within Sunset Bay State Park, brushing foliage to clear the corridor. This is an easy hike with less than 100 ft of elevation gain. Directions of where specifically will be emailed to your email, so make sure to check for email!

What to expect:

You should expect to participate in this work party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

You will be asked to electronically sign the e-waiver for this event within the 24 hours proceeding the event.

What to bring:

Plenty of water


Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)

What to wear:

Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes not recommended, no open toed shoes allowed.)

Work gloves (loaner gloves available)

Long sleeved shirts and pants.

Rain gear as appropriate for the weather

TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses


Detailed directions will be emailed out 48hrs before the event.

COVID-19 Procedures **Please follow all civil authority restrictions for your community. **

In accordance with civil authority restrictions and land manager requirements for safety considerations, the following policies are currently in place:

• All volunteers will watch in the TKO COVID-19 Safety Lab, a broad safety orientation of TKO Safety Policy & Procedures for a COVID-19 Environment. Link will be provided in your registration confirmation.

• All volunteers must administer a health self-evaluation prior to attending in-person volunteer events (

• All volunteers will read and sign the TKO Volunteer Waiver updated for COVID-19 for release and indemnity of TKO and the land manager partner. Link will be provided in your registration confirmation.

• Tools will be sanitized prior to the event.

• No carpools will be arranged by TKO for the time being.
