Silver Falls State Park Trail Party

Hike Difficulty: Easy

Work Difficulty: Moderate

We will be brushing out and roughing out a new trail connecting the camp ground to the North falls parking area. This is a brand new trail for the park. The length of the new trail is approximately one mile. The goal is to be able to show what the trail roughly will look like to aquire funding for the trail.

Hiking information: We will be starting from and established trail very close to the parking lot. Minimal hiking distance.

What to expect: We will be working on soft uneven ground with down trees, brush following a flagged trail. The tread width is to about 5 feet wide with brush back at least 2 feet on each side. Thiis will probaly take more than one work party to complete. 

The weather this time of year can be unpredictable and due to the elevation of the park freezing conditions may occur. If icey conditon occur the work amy be cancelled. Be prepared for wet conditions.

You should expect to participate in this work party for its entirety.

What to bring:

  • Lunch
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)

What to wear:

  • Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. No tennis shoes allowed!)
  • Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.
  • Rain gear as appropriate for the weather
  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

Directions: From Salem follow highway 22 out to ‘Silver Falls following the road signs. From the Portland metro area, I-5 south to Woodburn and follow the signs to the falls. East side 205 south 214 south and follow the sgins to  Silver Falls. The Cay group campground is off Hwy 214 prior to the North falls parking lot
