CANCELLED: CAR FREE – Silver Falls State Park Trail Party

Participants in this Car Free event will take a shuttle (complements of Wildwood Adventures, thanks Wildwood!) from the Barbur Boulevard Park and Ride (9712 SW Barbur Blvd, Portland, OR 97219) to Silver Falls for this trail party. The shuttle will leave the Park and Ride at 7:00am and will be back no later than 5:00pm.

Hiking information: We will be on activily used trails. Rocky to slightly muddy trail surface.

What to expect: We will be working on the canyon trailunder and around South falls working drainage, and removing a slide that has partially covered the trail. This there may be other tasks depending on what we find with the ranger. This area around the falls is very wet please bring rain gear and good foot wear to minimize getting wet. It may also be good to bring dry clothes to change into at the end of the day. The walk fom the parking lot is 1/4 to 1/2 mile at most. There is a downward grade to the falls, so there will be a climb out at the end of the day.

The weather forecast for next week is showing a possilblity of snow, the party may be cancelled due to weather conditons. We will keep every one aprized of the situation.

You should expect to participate in this work party for its entirety.

What to bring:

  • Lunch
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)

What to wear:

  • Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. No tennis shoes allowed!)
  • Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.
  • Rain gear as appropriate for the weather
  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

Directions: From Salem follow highway 22 out to ‘Silver Falls following the road signs. From the Portland metro area, I-5 south to Woodburn and follow the signs to the falls. East side 205 south 214 south and follow the sgins to  Silver Falls.
