Parking at the trailhead is limited, so we will be carpooling from a site that has more spaces. Information about the meeting place will be provided 48 hours prior to the trail party. This is a very active trail, so expect lots of hikers. Because of this, we will not leave a partial project uncompleted, but rather will schedule as many days as required to complete the work that is needed. As always, the crew leader may decide to cancel the trail party the day before based on weather conditions. We will not work in high winds, excessive rain/heat, or potential ice events. Volunteers are advised to check their emails the night before in case there are unanticipated trail party cancellations.
We will meet at 8:15 AM for a safety and tool talk and then begin our project. The trail is slowly experiencing tread creep and we wil be working primarily on the hinge getting back to more of the orginal trail. There will be some drainage work for a couple of seeps on the trail and under the falls.
The trail goes downhill 0.5 m to where we will target for the end of the work. If time permits we may proceed further. Total round-trip distance is 1 mile.
What to expect:
This is a well-established graveled trail that has lots of visitors. The tread surface is rocky, and establishing new, improved drainages will be a challenge. We will be working with hand tools, including hoes, hand saws and loppers.
A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins.
What to Bring:
What to wear:
TKO will supply hard hats and eye protection
Will be provided to all registrants 48 hours prior to the trail party. If you have questions or concerns about the hike, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
