Crew Leader: Chip Andrus
Get that body and brain toned for the upcoming trail season with a day of rock scooting, boulder planting, and wall building. The new trail being built at Punchbowl Falls County Park (Hood River valley) will challenge your imagination on what works when trying to build trail in steep terrain.
The walk to the site is short and gravity will be working in our favor when moving large boulders from their source to destination so brute strength isn’t required. But you may want to brush up on your knowledge of physics (F = μN, where N = mg cos (θ)). We’ll be trading tasks throughout the day so you don’t end up doing something mundane all day (like being crew leader).
The work parties will be the last three Sundays of March, starting with the 17th. This is a closed event so use the secret code to get signed up. We’ll start by 9:00 and wrap things up by 3:00. No ticks and no poison oak — I promise. Snow? Well, no guarantees on that.
What to expect:
You should expect to participate in this work party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please to not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.
