Box Step Timber Lab
Fridays lab will consist of learning the skills and techniques of using power tools, measuring and cutting timber, fastening timber forms together, transoporting completed forms to job site.
The crew will meet at the corner of highway 101 and Nehalem rd. We will then carpool a short distance to Alder Creek Farm wood shop. Once onsite we will start with the training.
No experience necessary! Our experienced crew leaders will teach you all you need to know to successfully build and install box steps at Neahkahnie. We will build some steps in the Alder Creek Farm shop then install those steps at the job site. There may also be opportunity to prep additional trails for subsequent box step installation.
Note: The area is awash in trailing blackberry, salmonberry and stinging nettles. Please bring good gloves and safety glasses, if you have them. Also, the trail can get very muddy, even on dry days, so please be prepared; bring clothes you can get dirty, and something to change into afterwards. We’ll be working rain or shine, so be sure to bring warm layers.
