McIver State Park, located on the Clackamas River between Oregon City and Estacada, is a 950-acre park with camping, boating, hiking and horseback riding opportunities for its visitors. There are over 14 miles of trails for hikers and horseback riders in the park.
The Maple Ridge trail is a popular 2-mile hiker-only trail in the park. TKO volunteers have done several work parties over the last two years to maintain and improve this trail. Several sections are flat and quite muddy in winter. This project will be to build a turnpike over a muddy section. Logs will be cut, peeled and installed on either side of the trail section, and gravel will be placed between the logs to raise up the tread above the muddy, clay surface. Some work parties have been done in advance of this trail party, to stage the logs and gravel.
Hike will be about a mile over gently rolling terrain.
