Work Party Location: Milo McIver State Park, Estacada
Date: January 29, 2019
Overview: McIver State Park, located on the Clackamas River between Oregon City and Estacada, is a 950-acre park with camping, boating, hiking and horseback riding opportunities for its visitors. There are over 14 miles of trails for hikers and horseback riders in the park.
Project description: If you are interested in new trail construction in its beginning stages, this work party will interest you. Park staff have approved construction of approximately ½ mile of new trail, over relatively flat terrain, beginning at the lower trailhead of the new Viewpoint Trail and meandering through the woods to join other existing trails in the park. We have done preliminary flagging of the route and are ready to begin the initial clearing to better define the trail corridor.
Hiking information: We will start at a trailhead and be walking in brushy areas to identify and refine the trail corridor.
What to expect: You should expect to walk a mile or more over uneven, relatively flat surfaces in brush. You will work with experienced crew leaders. No experience is necessary.
What to bring: Bring your lunch and plenty of water. Also bring good work gloves and supportive boots
