Latourell Falls Trail Party – TKO + Oregon National Guard

Work Description: Brushing, tread and drainage, decommissioning social trails

TKO is excited to collaborate with the Oregon National Guard on trail maintenance and enhancement work at Latourell Falls, Guy Talbot State Park.  Only preregistered volunteers will be accepted, but keep an eye on registrations as cancelations can happen and spots would open until 6PM the night before the event.

Project description:

In general, our focus will be brushing (downed limbs mostly), restoring and armoring tread width, and desommssiioing social trails created by visitors. This plan may change based on what’s done over the course of other trail parties.

Hiking information:

We will be hiking to different segments of the 2.3-mile loop trail. Depending on how much work has been accomplished at previous trail parties, you may be hiking up to 4-6 miles over steep terrain. If you have questions or concerns about the hike, please contact volunteers@trailkeepersoforegon.org

What to bring:

Bring your lunch, snacks and plenty of water.

What to wear:

  • Hiking boots (wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tool. Tennis shoes are discouraged and open toed shoes will not be allowed)

  • Sturdy work gloves (more than one pair is a good idea, loaners are available)

  • Long sleeved shirts recommended and long pants required

  • Rain gear as appropriate for the weather

  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses


Directions to the worksite will be provided to registered volunteers no later than 48 hours prior to the work party date, along with any other necessary information.
