Crew Leader:  Tom L.
Hike Distance:  Up to 2 miles

Hike Difficulty:
Easy
Work Difficulty: Moderate
Work Description: Restoration of tread, building rock structures to support tread, brushing
Keywords: rock work, tread

Overview:  We are working to complete the restoration of the Larch Mountain Trail. Even though the trail has been open for some time, the middle section of the trail, above the Wahkeena junction, has not been repaired. We will access the trail from Multnomah Basin Road, giving us fairly short hikes to the work site. We will be working in the section of the trail burned in the Eagle Creek fire.

Project description: This section of the trail has areas where the downhill edge of the trail has collapsed, and other areas that are constantly muddy. We will be building rock structures to support the edge of the trail, and improving drainage and armoring the tread where needed. Brushing and treadwork is also needed in most areas. For this trail party we will meet at a Forest Service access gate on the side of Larch Mountain Rd. After driving in on the Forest Service road we will hike to where we left off at the previous trail party and work our way down the trail.

Hiking information: We will start work where the previous trail party finished and work our way north.  Total hiking distance should not exceed 2 miles.

What to expect: You should expect to participate in this work party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please to not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.
