The Hunchback trail runs through the middle of the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness Area. This trail traverses the forested Hunchback Ridge which has several rocky viewpoints along the route.
We will meet at 8:15 AM for a safety and tool talk and then begin our project. The trail is slowly experiencing tread creep and we wil be working primarily on the hinge getting back to more of the orginal trail. There will be some drainage work as well.
The trail climbs steeply uphill for the first two miles. We will start working where the last trail party stopped, and may be hiking up to 4 miles round trip. If you have questions or concerns about the hike in, please contact volunteers@trailkeepersoforegon.
What to expect:
You should expect to hike and use a variety of different tools over steep and uneven terrain, with many obstacles to climb over and/or remove. A mandatory detailed safety discussion will be held before work begins. For safety reasons, we expect volunteers to stay for the duration of the trail party. Please do not expect to be able to arrive late or to leave early.
