TKO recognizes that we are navigating health safety challenges we have never seen before.  With guidance from safety experts, medical ADVISORS and RECOMMENDATIONS from our land manager partners, we are engaging in limited in-person volunteer activities with a keen eye towards safe, healthy practices.

December 18, 2020 at 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Scouting trails is a powerful activity to inform where TKO can make an impact on trails you care about. Help restore the Gorge!

Advanced Trail Scouting for TKO

Scouting trails is a powerful activity to inform where TKO can make an impact on trails you care about. We want to hear from you, about the trails you love and the uplift they need.

Objective: Sign up for any date, collect valuable information on trail problems you encounter and then be prepared to join us for an in depth TKO Trail Solutions Lab to help us identify solutions, priorities and work plans for 2021 trails recovery and maintenance. Our first area we’d like to focus in on is the Columbia River Gorge trail systems.

This activity is open and available to those who have completed the Trail Eyes video series through TKO’s Scout School. Click here to watch the videos if you haven’t already.

Once you’ve watched the videos, click “register” and follow the prompts to choose your trail location and date.

Make sure you read your order confirmation email throughly! Scroll aaaaallllll the way to bottom of the email to find the important stuff. There you will see the links to scouting tutorials, a link where you can share your findings when you return. and of course an additional link to the waiver you will need to sign before beginning.

Submit your findings afterwards in this Google Form

For those who have completed the Advanced Scouting training, you can find refresher video’s on using Gaia GPS and where to submit your final tracks and reports HERE.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: TKO recognizes that the trails we work on travel through the traditional lands of many Indigenous tribes. In every corner of what we now call Oregon, these people were forced to cede their land, their home, to the US government at various times from 1853 – 1871. We are privileged to be here today & express gratitude to the descendants of these tribes for being the original stewards of this land.

EQUITY & INCLUSION: TKO seeks to make Oregon’s trails a place where people can go to connect with nature & one another. Not everyone feels safe & welcome in the outdoors due to racism, bias & hate. We commit to being part of the solution to change that. Conduct, speech, or expressions that target individuals or groups will not be tolerated by TKO, regardless of whether they are based on age, citizenship, disability, ethnicity, gender identity/expression, geographic origin, language, marital status, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.

PERSONAL SAFETY: Your physical & emotional safety is our number one priority. If a person’s actions or comments make you feel uncomfortable/unsafe – interrupt directly, tell a crew leader &/or complete the post-event survey.
