The purpose of this event is to scout the Gorge trail #400 between Moffett Creek and Tanner Creek and create a project list for future trail parties. This section of trail is about 2.4 miles in length and has not been scouted since the fire to my knowledge.
Time: We will meet at the trailhead at 8:15 AM and set up a car shuttle to Tanner Creek where we will start our hike.
Hiking information: We will start hiking from Tanner Creek and head west toward Moffett Creek. We will then hike down the bike path to return to the car shuttle at the John B. Yeon parking lot. From there we can return to Tanner Creek to pick up our vehicles. Total distance will be about 3.5 miles with 2.3 miles of unknown terrain.
What to expect: You should expect to hike through terrain that has not been reviewed since the fire. We will be flagging the trail and making note of the projects in the various sections. I don’t know whether we will be able to make it though the entire trail.
What to bring: Bring your lunch and plenty of water. Also bring good work gloves and supportive boots.
What to wear:
Directions: Take I-84 E/US-30 East to exit 35 from I-84 E/US-30 E. At the stop sign, make a left east then in 100 yds a right onto the Frontage Rd. Approx. 2.1 miles east, stop at the John B. Yeon trailhead parking. Don’t get back onto I-84.
