The purpose of this event is to scout the Gorge trail #400 between Eagle Creek and Tanner Creek and create a project list for future trail parties. This section of trail is about 3 miles in length and has not been scouted since the fire to OPRD knowledge.
Time: We will meet at the trailhead at 8:15 AM and set up a car shuttle to Tanner Creek where we will start our hike. We may leave a shuttle car(s) at the Eagle Creek TH area.
Hiking information: We will start hiking from Tanner Creek and head east toward Eagle Creek. We will then return via car shuttle to the John B. Yeon parking lot. Total distance will be about 3.0 miles with 3.0 miles of unknown terrain.
What to expect: You should expect to hike through terrain that has not been reviewed since the fire. We will be flagging the trail and making note of the projects in the various sections. I don’t know whether we will be able to make it though the entire trail. USFS says this is potentially dangerous section of trail.
What to bring: Bring your lunch and plenty of water. Also bring good work gloves and supportive boots.
What to wear:
Directions: Take I-84 E/US-30 East to exit 35 from I-84 E/US-30 E. At the stop sign, make a left east then in 100 yds a right onto the Frontage Rd. Approx. 2.1 miles east, stop at the John B. Yeon trailhead parking. Don’t get back onto I-84.
