World Wetlands Day is Sunday, February 2.  Please bring your kiddos out to help TKO celebrate this special day at Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area, one of Portland’s best-kept secrets.  At 2,000 acres, this public park and nature reserve is one of the largest urban wetlands in the United States.

This family-friendly event is aimed at youngsters 6 – 14 years of age, although kids as young as 4 may participate.  As such, the work party will be considerably shorter than our normal events, running from 9:00 to noon.

The day’s work will be decommissioning social trails by planting native vegitation and putting downed limbs over the track.

*** Please fill out a registration form for each person who will be attending.

*** Minors will need to be accompanied by at least one legal guardian at all times.

*** Participants must arrive on time to participate in the pre-work safety talk.  We will not be able to accommodate late arrivals who miss the safety discussion.

What to bring:

  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Heavy, well-fitting gloves
  • Shovels or other planting tools

What to wear:

  • Sturdy boots or shoes that will protect your toes. No tennis shoes or shoes without toe coverings will be allowed.
  • Work gloves
  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.
  • Rain gear as appropriate for the weather
