Hike Distance: 2 miles
Elevation Gain: 500′
Hike Difficulty: Easy
Work Difficulty: Easy
Work Description: Mechanized Equipment Training

Our crew leaders will be learning how to use mechanized equipment to load and haul rock to fill turnpikes and armor trail tread! Once they’re trained in using this equipment to bring in additional materials, they’ll be able to lead other volunteers in doing even more cool and complex trail projects!

Hiking Information

We’ll drive in to the training site. Rock material will be moved ~1/2 mile using the motorized toters.

What to Expect

You should expect to train rain or shine. Rainy or cool weather should be expected, so participants will be encouraged to bring plenty of water and protective layers!

What to Bring

Lunch, plenty of water, snacks, and extra gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available).

What to wear:

  • Boots (tennis shoes not allowed)

  • Sturdy work gloves (more than one pair is a good idea)

  • A light, long sleeved shirt required

  • Rain gear, rain is always likely

  • Eye protection is recommended (eye glasses, safety glasses, etc.)

  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

Directions to the worksite will be provided to registered volunteers no later than 48 hours prior to the work party date, along with any other necessary information.
