2013 Events:
Beaver Falls Trail - Trail Reroute Planning
Date: Saturday, May 25th
This beautiful trail between Long View and Clatskanie - about an hour away from Portland on the way to Astoria - needs a reroute to fix a section that is too steep. Learn more about the Beaver Falls Trail from this trip report on Portlandhikers.org. We will be working with Columbia County Parks to look at the section and plan where the new trail will be located. In addition to planning out the trail reroute at the Beaver Falls Trail, TKO will start digging into the trail work on the same day. There will be an hour or two of planning and layout in the morning followed by trail work until about 3:30pm. During the lunch break, we'll take a walk to the falls and talk about other possibilities for this trail.
This is a good opportunity for those who want to see the new trail planning process, want to participate in a project from the planning stage on, or would like to get more involved in crew leader activities. Register here.
Clackamas River Trail - Logout and Tread Reconstruction
Date: Sunday, June 2
TKO is looking for volunteers to help on this heavily used trail where logs and small slides have caused poor conditions. We will be working on the Clackamas River Trail (#715) to clear out logs and repair the tread.
Learn more about the Clackamas River Trail here. We will meet at the Fish Creek trail head at 8:30 am and work towards Pup Creek Falls. All skill levels welcome from first timers to certified sawyers.
Kings Mountain Trail Work Party with Mazamas
Date: Saturday, June 15th
The Mazamas and TKO will be leading a trip on Kings Mountain in the coast range to clear out the tangle of winter growth that threatens to bury this popular training hike. We need 10 people for this one day work party. More details will be available soon. Sign up here.
