The Trailkeepers of Oregon "Walk, Rock, and Roll" series
When: Thursday February 18th, 2010 Where: Angel's Rest Trail What: The hard work is mainly done for you as we assemble pre-transported
pieces of stone into a structure you can HIKE on! Learn what a
check dam is for and how it helps protect your favorite trails from
further erosion. Why: "All human creations eventually melt back into the landscape, but the most enduring reminders of earlier generations are built of
rock" (Robert Birkby, Lightly on the Land). Doctor Dana says "Rock structures are very effective erosion repair, and building with rock is like assembling a creative puzzle." How: For additional information and to RSVP please contact volunteer coordinator - joseph.ammons@trailkeepersoforegon.org. See you on the trails, or on the web at http://www.trailkeepersoforegon.org
